 AMURT SERVING CYCLONE (AILA) AFFECTED PEOPLE AT SUNDERBAN AREAS OF SOUTH & NORTH 24 PARGANAS

Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team serving the people devastated by Killer cyclone named AILA that affected millions of people of south Bengal. Hundreds of thousands of people became homeless. 8 sannyasis and 12 volunteers of AMURT is running free medical centres both Alopathic and Homeopathic, distributing bleaching powder, baby food and drinking water pouch in three blocks i.e., at Namkhana, Pathar Prathima of South 24 parganas and Sandesh Khali Block No.“ 2 of North 24 parganas. Everyday 5000 people are getting benefited.

Ravaged by Aila on Monday, its people now spend their nights on the road under the open sky. Floating carcasses and rotting fish all around is unfolding its worst nightmare. Epidemic is breaking down for want of large quantity of bleaching powder and halogen tablets.

To combat epidemic and other water borne diseases AMURT decided to extend its medical services to other parts of Sunderban areas.

AMURT has also decided to construct temporary houses for the homeless at Sandeshkhali.
