ANTHER SHIPMENT TO PORT BLAIR – THIS TIME LARGE VOLUME OF UTENSILS FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS
A large shipment of relief goods mainly containing 1000 sets of cooking utensils, buckets, bed sheets, blankets etc and 5 tons of potatoes left the port of Vishakapattanam for Port Blair and Nancowrie of Nicobar islands.
As you know most of the affected families are in the camps since Tsunami stuck the islands. It is time for construction of houses for them. We have already sent an appeal for help.
Some of the families have already started moving to the govt. allotted temporary houses to start their families afresh and they need essential materials like utensils and other household goods.
In South Andaman our didis and AMURTEL volunteers have distributed lanterns, potatoes rice and flours to more than 500 affected families. Counseling works mostly to the women and children and distribution of food materials are still going on there.
